    You Can Go The Distance

I remember looking at my photography a few years ago and thinking to myself, This is it? Yeesh. I worked with the equipment I had, tried my best to edit the way I knew how, and used Pinterest to take photos like what I saw everyone else taking. But I didn't feel confident in my work or in my ability to do more than snap a pretty picture sometimes. Now I'm looking back on those years. Where there was nervousness and uncertainty, there's confidence. I've grown into my style, gi

Sunflowers | Michelle | Colorado Springs, CO

Goodness, I almost forgot that I intended to post these photos. Michelle and I started a (somewhat) tradition of taking photos in a field of sunflowers, and this year we may have pushed it a little too far out... the first year we did this, we found the last week of August was FULL of sunflowers everywhere we looked. But this year, we waited until the first or second week of September, and they were almost gone. It was sad, but the dying flowers coupled with the grey skies an

    Books of 2019: 11-20

If you read my post in May about the first 10 books of 2019, you know that this year my goal is to read 50 books by December 31st. And even though I'm behind because I'm in the middle of some pretty hefty ones right now, I think I'm tracking pretty well. I want to keep track of these books and what my thoughts are on them, so I made a story highlight on my personal Instagram where you can get an overall view of my thoughts on each one. But I wanted to also write these blog po

    The Bridesmaid Dress Series

I used to joke that I was the real life version of Katherine Heigl's character in 27 Dresses. Within the span of 3 years, I was a bridesmaid in 6 weddings--and a maid of honor in one of those. I've been through it all, y'all. I've told off snooty family members who were messing with the bride and groom's day. I've cried when they said their vows. I've danced to all the songs, stayed up till 2am loading dishes into my car. I've watched siblings and friends embark on the sweete

I met up with Kit and Jess a few weeks ago in Loveland, Colorado for a mini session of their little family. Their sweet pups Dylan and Donnie were the best and we had so much fun capturing their personalities! #2019 #Sunnyday #Coloradophotography #Colorado #lifestyle #travel #Photos #Couple #Family #Springtime #Loveland

    Michelle | Sunday Vibes

I needed to do something creative, and a photo shoot is always a great outlet for so many reasons. I love that photography brings people together in some pretty cool and unique ways, and it can inspire all sorts of other creative avenues from it. So I hit up my girlfriends to see who was available and had a dress they'd be willing to put on. Michelle and I drove less than a mile from my house to get to this park. Originally, I had another place in mind, but on the day of it e

    Get out there

Today I want to talk to about something really important: marketing. Just kidding. You've heard all about how to do that, and everyone on social media is marketing-minded these days. You can barely escape it! Influencers popping up out of nowhere, our friends becoming reps for companies and trying to get us on board, it's everywhere. You don't need another blog post about "how to get 10,000 followers" because at the end of the day, that's not what's important. That's not what

Hannah | Strong female lead | Denver, CO

You know, I never made a blog post for these branding shots of Hannah! Which is crazy, because they're some of my favorites ever. I love working with her for so many reasons. And I'm so thankful she chooses me to take pictures of her! She's so natural in front of the camera, shoots with her are always just a bunch of fun. These were taken at the end of 2018, and I'm still kind of swooning over how beautiful she is. Also, she is playing Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady in Fort

Mentoring Series: Choosing to be one

How can I be a mentor? I was in college when I heard a ministry regional director give a talk on mentoring and discipling. He got saved in high school by a gym rat who immediately started investing in him, getting up early so they could meet together in the mornings before school. Two weeks in, and his new friend asked him, "Who's your guy?" Two weeks into being a believer and this guy was asked to go out and find someone to pour into. And maybe this is a bit crazy, but here

    Mentoring Series: Looking for one

How do I find a mentor? This one's for the girls and women who know it's time to find someone to invest in your life. Maybe you're a freshman in high school, or maybe you're out of college. You've noticed the absence of someone you can go to in times of questioning, a person to faithfully pray for you, to love you through life and help you along the way. It can feel really overwhelming. A lot of us feel scared about the process of even looking for someone to mentor us. How do

A Photographer's Guide to the Age Old Question: What Should I Wear?

I get it. You're hot, you're cold, you're on the move...but you have a job to do. You're a hustler, and you don't want something like your outfit to get in the way of doing your job. A lot of newer photogs have asked me, What should I wear to this type of shoot/event? Seniors, families, branding shoots, and the most daunting: weddings. Dressing for a consultation, a shoot, or even just a meeting with clients can be intimidating because we work in a world with no set rules--bu

Brooke | A Sweet Session | Colorado Springs, CO

I got to photograph my friend Brooke this past week! We did branding photos for her baking business and it was totally sweet. ;) What started out as a short n' sweet mini turned into a full hour of photographing delicious creations, getting super cute photos of her, talking and having fun! I was so excited to go through the photos when I got home. And despite a fright when my computer died over the weekend, my brilliant brother got it up and running and I sent photos out at t

What a beautiful summer day it was! Chris and Charity were married in Palmer Lake and the weather was absolutely perfect. Ceremony and reception were at the Historic Pinecrest, with friends and family surrounding them. And let me tell ya, everyone at this wedding knew how to have FUN. Hannah | Denver, CO

This Denver-based actress needed some branding shots and we definitely got a ton of AWESOME shots! We walked around the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and even stumbled upon a super cool bridge a few blocks over. I've seen her perform a lot over the years and was so excited to see her as Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame a few weeks ago, the show literally. Blew. Me. Away. She'll be in a new show in a few more weeks, and I can't wait to see that one too! #2018

4 Books You Should Read During May

It's finally feeling like spring around here! Colorado's crazy weather is starting to play nice and we've been given several lovely sunny days. One of my favorite things to do on a warm spring day is sit on my back balcony and read in the sunlight, maybe even with an iced tea beside me. Anyone else with me on that?? Guys, it's springtime! Put away the cell phone and break out an actual book. Listen to the birds chirping and the wind moving through trees, watch the rain pour d

    Crystal | Colorado Springs, CO

This high school senior was so easy and fun to shoot with! We chose Switchback Coffee as our primary location in downtown Colorado Springs, a place I'd actually never been before but have wanted to check out! Crystal and I got some great shots and had a lot of laughs. She also brought her love for martial arts into the photos at the end. It was a perfect overcast day f0r this senior shoot! Some of my faves... #2018 #Senior #Seniorphotos #Seniorphotography #classof2018 #Colora

Paolo + Deanna | Black Forest, CO

Deanna and I have been friends for 9 years now, and it really is crazy how fast time slips away from you! I have memories from our slumber parties from high school and all the awkward homeschool adventures her sisters and I have had from the time we were 13. Suddenly we're here. And seriously, she and Paolo were some of the easiest people to shoot. Which resulted in SO many cute photos! It's easy to feel the love between these two, and I'm so happy I got to capture a little b

Andrew + Jamie | Cielo at Castle Pines Wedding | Castle Pines, CO

Andrew and Jamie are one of the sweetest couples, and I love the way they love each other and Jesus. I was blessed by doing both their engagement and wedding photos, and they are so easy and fun to work with! The big day was beautiful and, despite looming rainclouds, the weather cooperated with us perfectly. The ceremony was wonderful, and the dance floor at the reception was packed. Special thanks to Siri Burlew Photography for second shooting, that beautiful last photo on t

Rachel + Tobias | Garden of the Gods Elopement

It was a crazy busy Saturday at Garden of the Gods, and the ceremony was at 1pm--on a day that happened to be HOT and sunny! But the spot where Rachel + Tobias said "I do" was perfect for them and the cheers from tourists passing by was the cutest thing ever. Such a fun elopement! #2017 #Elopement #Coloradoelopement #Colorado #ColoradoSprings #ColoradoSpringsphotography #Wedding #Weddingday #Bride #Groom #GardenoftheGods
