And so the year comes to a close. It's time for me to look back on all the books I read this year! If you've been following my reading list, you know my goal was to read 50 books in 2019. I have a love for many genres, so I decided not to limit myself on the type of book. I was reading 1,000 page epic novels, followed by children's stories. Sappy YA, then Christian non-fiction. And on my bookish journey this past year, here are some of the highlights.
Top 5 books of 2019:
- Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. Knocked my socks off, y'all! I'll be reading it again!
- The Storm Keeper's Island by Catherine Doyle. So stinking fantastic. I can't wait to read the sequel and the rest of the series when they come out!
- The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery. I never knew this book existed, but now that I do, I intend to read it yearly. Lovely story.
- Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Donald S Whitney. Fantastic, and every Christian should read it.
- The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. One of my all-time favorite classics, and I could read it endlessly.
Bottom 3 books of 2019:
- Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. Just...no. Watch the movie instead, I beg you.
- The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfus. Started out great, but I wish almost half the book never existed. It was disgusting. Might've ruined him as an author for me.
- The Sacred Enneagram by Christopher L. Heuertz. The Enneagram does not replace the Gospel, and this guy certainly seemed like he was treating it that way.
